A Pidgey API Key is your license key for Pro features. When you subscribe to a plan, you receive a key by email (formatted like PHX-A3B7-K9X2-M5R1). Paste it into any Pidgey extension's Settings panel under "Pidgey API Key" — Pro features activate instantly.

The key is verified by our server each time you use a Pro feature. It is NOT an AI model key — that's separate (you bring your own Gemini, Claude, or GPT-4 key).

Pidgey Assist supports Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for the following providers:

  • 🔵 Google Gemini — Free tier available at aistudio.google.com. Recommended starting point.
  • 🟠 Anthropic Claude — Claude 3.5 Sonnet and others
  • 🟢 OpenAI GPT-4 — GPT-4o and GPT-4-turbo
  • 🟣 OpenRouter — Access dozens of free and paid models through one key

We do not charge for AI usage. You pay the model provider directly (Gemini's free tier is usually enough for most users).

Your subscription unlocks Pro features inside Pidgey Assist — not AI model access. These include:

  • 🤖 Multi-Step Agent Mode — interactive web tasks
  • 🧠 Nest-Egg Memory — persistent context across sessions
  • 🎒 Backpack File Management — export and save results
  • 🗣️ Voice Mode — speak naturally to your AI
  • Priority support

Free users get core features using their own AI key — Pro just adds the power layer on top.

It depends on your plan:

  • Phoenix Mode ($14.99/mo) — Your key unlocks all Pro features for Pidgey Assist on one active device.
  • Lifetime Key ($79.99 one-time) — Your key can be used across unlimited devices permanently with no subscriptions.

You can upgrade from Phoenix Mode to a Lifetime Key at any time — email us and we'll prorate the difference.

Email pidgey@pidgeyassist.com with your Pidgey API Key and a cancellation request. We'll cancel within 1 business day and confirm by email. No questions asked.

Your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period.

Pidgey Assist is available on the Chrome Web Store. Search "Pidgey" or use the direct links on our Plans page. It works in Chrome, Brave, Edge, and any Chromium-based browser.

Your AI model keys (Gemini, Claude, OpenAI, OpenRouter) are stored exclusively in Chrome's local chrome.storage.local — encrypted on your device, never transmitted to our servers.

Your Pidgey API Key is verified server-side via a secure HTTPS call, but only the key hash is checked — no personal data is involved.

No account. No login. No dashboard. Your Pidgey API Key is your identity token. Keep it safe — it's the only thing you need to access Pro features across every extension.

Common Issues

My Pidgey API Key isn't working

First, verify your key on the Plans page. If it shows "not found," email us with your purchase receipt — keys are delivered by email within minutes of checkout, sometimes ending up in spam.

The extension isn't responding / Gemini errors

This is usually your AI model key, not your Pidgey key. Visit Google AI Studio to confirm your Gemini key is active and not rate-limited. Gemini's free tier has generous limits but may throttle heavy usage.

I want to upgrade from Phoenix Mode to a Lifetime Key

Email us with your current Pidgey API Key. We'll deduct what you've paid and upgrade your key same-day.

🛑 Data We Do NOT Collect

We are a privacy-first tool. We absolutely do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • ✖ App usage data or feature tracking inside the extension.
  • ✖ Your API Keys (Gemini, Claude, OpenAI). They never leave your device.
  • ✖ Your browsing history or page content.
  • ✖ Cookies or tracking pixels on pidgeyassist.com.

🏡 Data Stored Locally (Your Device Only)

All extension intelligence lives in your browser. Your memory, facts, AI settings, API keys, and conversation history are stored exclusively in Chrome's local database (chrome.storage.local). Want to wipe it? Just uninstall the extension.

☁️ Data Sent to Our Servers

When you unlock Pro features, your Pidgey API Key is pinged via a secure HTTPS call to confirm it is valid. We also collect your Email Address and a Name/Username to provide product updates, send receipts, and handle customer support issues effectively. We do not sell this data. Server logs are purged after 30 days.

📜 Google Limited Use Disclosure

PidgeyAssist's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Furthermore:

  • ✓ AI Keys: Handled locally (Browser), never shared.
  • ✓ License Keys: Validated via server hash, never shared.
  • ✓ Uninstall: All local data is immediately deleted upon extension removal.

🤖 AI Provider Data

Prompts and analysis are sent directly from your local browser to your chosen AI provider (Google, Anthropic, OpenAI) via your own API key. This data is entirely governed by your chosen provider's privacy policy. Pidgey Assist has zero access to this transmission.

👶 COPPA Compliance (13+)

Because Pidgey Assist has no accounts and no user profiles to limit data exposure, however, to comply with COPPA, all users must be 13 years of age or older to purchase a key or unlock premium Sandbox features. Purchasing a Pidgey API Key requires a valid payment method, completely subject to the age restrictions of our payment provider (Stripe).

1. What We Provide

Pidgey Assist provides ultra-fast, AI-powered Chrome browser extensions and the pidgeyassist.com platform. Crucially, we do not supply AI model inference API access. You must "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) from Google, Anthropic, or OpenAI to operate the intelligence layer.

2. Billing & Subscriptions

  • ✦ Subscriptions: Plans auto-renew. Your "Pidgey API Key" is generated immediately upon successful checkout.
  • ✦ Cancellations: Cancel any time by emailing pidgey@pidgeyassist.com. No dark patterns, no hassle.
  • ✦ Refunds: We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months, but cancellations act definitively at the billing cycle close.

3. Acceptable Use & Liability

Usage Rules

Do not use our agents for harassment, illegal content generation, or DDOSing sites. You may not resell or publicly share your Pidgey API key.

🧩 Chrome Web Store

Information for Chrome Web Store reviewers and users about permissions, data handling, and our extension family.

Permissions Explained

All Pidgey extensions request the minimum permissions necessary to function. Here's what each permission is used for and why it's needed:

sidePanel Displays the AI chat interface in Chrome's side panel — the core UI of every Pidgey extension.
activeTab Read the current tab's content when you ask Pidgey to read or scrape the page. Never reads pages in the background.
scripting Required to inject content scripts that extract page text and take screenshots upon user request.
storage Stores your API keys and preferences locally using chrome.storage.local. Data never leaves your device.
tabs Used to open new tabs (e.g., navigating to a resource or Chrome Web Store listing) upon user request.
contextMenus Adds a right-click "Ask Pidgey" option to selected text on any page for quick AI analysis.
host_permissions (r.jina.ai) Required solely to access the Jina AI Reader API for fetching clean, markdown-formatted web page content during deep research without injecting scripts into the user's tab.

Remote Code Policy

Pidgey Assist extensions do not execute remote code. All extension logic is bundled in the package submitted to the Chrome Web Store. API calls go only to user-designated AI providers (Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter) and our own key-verification endpoint.

Single Purpose

Each Pidgey extension serves a focused, clearly-defined purpose — an AI assistant specialized for a specific domain (trading, reselling, negotiating, etc.) — consistent with Chrome Web Store single-purpose policies.

Data Usage Disclosure

In accordance with Chrome Web Store developer program policies:

  • We do not sell user data to third parties
  • We do not use data for creditworthiness or lending purposes
  • We do not transfer data to third parties except as required to operate the extension (AI model API calls using the user's own key)
  • User data is used solely to provide the extension's stated functionality
